Goal

To improve user experience on Pinterest by creating and integrating a photo sharing feature directly from the gallery and redesigning the chat interface for better usability and visual appeal. Also making some adjustments in the main home page grid of pins.

Background

Pinterest is a widely used platform for discovering and saving creative ideas. While it excels in providing inspiration through pins, its communication tools, particularly the chat feature can be upgraded. Currently, users can only share pins within chats, limiting direct and personalized interactions. Additionally, the chat interface is visually outdated and lacks essential features that enhance user experience and the home page and the home page grid can also have some improvements.

Objective

To address the limitations of Pinterest’s chat function by:

1. Introducing the ability to send photos directly from the user’s gallery.
2. Redesigning the chat interface to improve its aesc
3. Aesthetic appeal and usability
4. Changing the grid layout.

Defining the Problem

• Photo Sharing Limitation: Users cannot send photos directly from their device’s gallery, restricting personalized communication and the sharing of original content.
• Outdated Chat Interface: The current chat design is visually unappealing, lacks modern messaging features, and does not offer an intuitive user experience.
• Zoomed-In Pin Layout: The current grid size on the homepage displays fewer pins in a single frame, making it feel overly zoomed in. This limits users' ability to explore more content at a glance, reducing overall browsing efficiency
